theWAHMmagazine ‘Round the Web this Week

I’m kicking off this week with a little modified version of link love, to thank those who’ve mentioned theWAHMmagazine or linked to us this past week.

In full disclosure, in some cases, we asked to be included, in others, the writers were kind enough to mention theWAHMmagazine without any prompting from us. In either case, I can’t thank them enough.

The goal is to make this a regular feature here at From the Editor’s Desk, the companion blog to theWAHMmagazine. So if you’re reading this and have mentioned theWAHMmagzine, and Google alerts or pingbacks/trackbacks didn’t catch it, don’t hesitate to let us know (by commenting) so that we can return the love. And hey, even if you’ve given us something less than love, don’t hesitate to let us know too (by commenting) so that we can respond and still give you your props for opining live and direct on the Web. And if I missed anyone, please let me know so that I can add you.  If you’re wondering what to do if you’ve blogged about us before this new series, still let us know, so that I can do a pre-series recap “down the Pike a bit” as we say back in Boston. (Don’t want to leave anyone out, because, well…that just wouldn’t be fair now would it?)

This week’s gracious thanks (for last week’s postings) go to:

Chris Brogan for adding us to the list of Rock Stars. For our readers who might not already know about Chris and his great posts, direction, musings, teachings and way more than that when it comes to Social Media, now is the time to make sure that his site becomes among your daily reads.

Jonathan at Fluent Simplicty for adding us to the Twitter Brand Index in not one, but two categories. You can find us under media and under parenting/babies. If it weren’t for Shannon’s (@Babiesonline) tweet, I might not have stumbled upon Jonathan’s site…so thank you to Shannon as well. (More full disclosure, I’m also a blogger-columnist for Shannon at babiesonline.)

Carolyn Ericson at Choose Your Words Wisely, who blogged about writing the cover story (the Eight-to-Three Empty Nest) for the current issue of theWAHMmagazine in her “It’s Alive” post. Aside from sharing about theWAHMmagzine, Carolyn had some very poignant points about working from home in general and how the industry on the whole is a force to be reckoned with. And from Carolyn’s mouth to God’s ears that: “As it succeeds in its mission, we find it easier to succeed in ours.” (It’s through such posts and word-of-mouth that we can succeed in our mission, and I thank anyone who helps us along in that success.)

Susan Gunelius at Women on Business, who mentinoned us in her Women’s Words Weekly segment for this week. Susan is an amazing writer, business woman, and business and marketing expert. And for those who might not know — especially those business people who are also Harry Potter fans (and even those who aren’t), check out her new book, Harry Potter: the Story of a Global Business Phenomenon.

Now for some unrelated gratitude:

Thanks to Dawn Allcot — one of theWAHMmagazine’s amazing regular columnists — for letting me know that the font size here was rediculously small. For whatever reason, after loading the latest FF upgrade, the font size on most sites that I visit is obscenely tiny, so I thought that it was just me. Thanks to a little chat session promting me going in to update the css file, you too no longer need to think that you’re going blind (or that I’m sadistic), squint, break out the bifocals,  or a magnifying glass for that matter, to read the posts and as such, we return to a user-friendly state. (It even looks normal on my computer, which means the font size is probably HUGE everywhere else-LOL. One of these days, I’ll get around to figuring out my personal Web settings with the new FF update.)

Thanks also go out to Angela at MommyBytes from during the MommyFest Blog party back in May.  Yes, this is long over due, and I am remiss. Amid the convergence of deadlines (for my own writing and editing career), the last two issues of theWAHMmagazine being serious productions and my husband’s campaign for a higher public office than he currently holds, it’s been just a wee bit … um … crazy around the Geiss house. No lie. Angela’s a fellow gal from Beantown and is an uber-Websavvy woman.  Angela’s also the tech editor at Kirtsy (formerly known as skirt…not to be confused with the magazine, however.)  Angela donated the Amazon GC that I won for one of the memes that I wrote at my personal blog during the Mommy Fest Blog party, of which theWAHMmagazine was a sponsor.

If you made it this far, don’t forget to vote for us at Blogger’s Choice (see icon in the upper right column) and while you’re out and about on the Web, join WAHM & WAHD Today and network with other work-at-home parents.

A heartfelt thanks to you all!
